Job purpose:

The Searcher is a key member of a team conducting Technical Survey (TS) and/or clearance of Explosive Remnants of War (ERW). Deployed in specified operational areas, the Searcher is responsible for implementing safe and effective clearance and marking procedures in accordance with NPA Iraq Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and in line with IMAS guidelines.

Responsibilities:

General responsibilities:

·        Maintain and care for all issued equipment; any loss or damage may result in personal liability for repair or replacement.

·        Follow all verbal and written instructions unless they directly compromise safety or duty of care.

·        Contribute to a safe and secure working environment, protecting personnel and equipment from harm or damage.

 

Specific duties:

·        Always operate in strict accordance with NPA Iraq SOPs and IMAS clearance principles.

·        Conduct search and clearance of ERW and other hazards in assigned task areas.

·        Ensure all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), tools, and equipment are clean, serviceable, and complete before and after deployment.

·        Adhere to instructions from the Team Leader promptly, safely, and without objection.

·        Take individual responsibility for personal safety and always maintain discipline on task.

·        Immediately report to the Team Leader any concerns related to safety, damaged/missing PPE, or malfunctioning tools and equipment.

·        Mark cleared and un-cleared areas using approved marking systems as per SOP.

·        Assist in accurate documentation of clearance progress when required.

·        Perform any other duties as assigned by the Team Leader or Supervisor

If Assigned Primary/Alternate Team Driver:

·        Maintain and submit accurate vehicle log sheets to the Fleet Office on the last working day of each month.

·        Ensure that all required legal and operational vehicle documents (registration, movement permissions, license, insurance, etc.) are present and up to date.

·        Adhere to NPA’s Driver SOPs and Vehicle Use Policy.

·        Conduct daily vehicle checks and report defects or issues to the Fleet Officer or Team Leader.

·        Complete LDRs (Logistics Damage Reports), MFAs (Minor Field Accident reports), or accident reports as required.

·        Keep the vehicle clean and free of waste; perform weekly washing and routine maintenance.

·        Support the Fleet Officer with refueling, servicing, and repair coordination as needed

Required qualifications:

Must have

·        Successful completion of relevant training courses including certification in Battle area clearance

Desirable

·        Certified training in Demining, CMRS, and/or Non-Technical Survey (NTS)

·        Valid manual vehicle driver’s license

Personal Competencies:

·        Proficiency in spoken Arabic

·        Strong interpersonal and communication skills

·        Good comprehension and adaptability

·        Ability to perform effectively under stress and in challenging environments

·        Willingness and ability to travel within the country as required

Function prerequisite:

 

The position requires the candidate to have prior knowledge and practical experience of all operational activities within the NPA South Iraq programme.

 

Responsibilities:

General responsibilities

 

·        As directed by the STFM/OM, conduct Quality Assurance and Quality Control activities.  

 

Specific duties

 

·        Conduct site visits on NPA Operational task sites in South Iraq (NTS/CMRS/CMRC) and carry out Quality Assurance activities.

·        Conduct QC activities during and following the end of clearance on a Hazardous Area by NPA operational assets.

·        Support STFM/OM in preparing, updating and monitoring adherence to the annual QM plan.

·        Prepare and maintain written records of all Quality Management activities.

·        Manage and administer the selected QA/QC team members seconded from the clearance team if applicable.

·        Any other task or duty as assigned by the STFM/OM.  

 

 

 

Other duties

·        Be prepared to temporarily act as Site Supervisor in absence for short periods if required

·        Monitor and assess the quality of training conducted if required by the STFM

·        Support with instruction on training courses if requested by STFM

·        Be able to travel to Muthanna to conduct a QM visits and around Iraq or the region for any operational workshops or training

·        Provide information related to Quality Management work to TFMs if requested

Required qualifications:

·        Certified Site Supervisor-Team Leader qualification.

·        Completed EOD Level 2

 


 

Education:

Must have:

·        Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience within the mine action sector

·        Strong computer skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications

·        Valid driver’s license with practical driving experience in both manual and automatic vehicles

 

Desirable:

·        Proficient in written and verbal English

 

Experience:

Must have:

·        Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Team Leader, Site Supervisor, or in a higher position

·        Good understanding of Land Release methodology and the Toolbox approach

·        Solid knowledge of IMAS, NMAS, and relevant SOPs related to Quality Management

Desirable:

·        Previous experience as QM officer

Other qualifications:

 

·        EOD qualification is an advantage

Function Prerequisite:

 

The Team Leader is the head of the team conducting NTS/EORE and CMRS/CMRC tasks. With the support of the Site Supervisor, the Team Leader is responsible for managing the team, deploying team members in the field, overseeing equipment and ensuring safety. Key responsibilities also include task planning, implementation, quality management, and reporting.

 

General Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for team and task management overall.
  • Plan daily tasks and monitor team activities to ensure effective execution.
  • Fulfill all reporting requirements, including pre- and post-task reports and daily updates.
  • Ensure the quality management system is implemented in accordance with NPA Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Uphold and work within the framework of NPA’s core values.
  • Represent NPA professionally and act as an ambassador through appropriate conduct.
  • Comply with all NPA policies, regulations, and procedures.
  • Maintain and take care of all equipment issued by NPA; any loss or damage may result in liability for repair or replacement.

Responsibilities:

·        Manage and oversee the team’s inventory.

·        In coordination with the team’s drivers, monitor vehicle maintenance and ensure timely repairs.

·        Ensure the safety of all team members during transportation between the base and the worksite.

·        Ensure that survey and clearance operations are conducted in accordance with NPA Iraq SOPs.

·        Confirm that all Searchers are equipped with the necessary tools and that the equipment is in good working condition.

·        Provide clear instructions to each operator regarding their work areas, tools, and procedures.

·        Always remain present on the task site while the team is operating.

·        Support the team in correctly applying HR, Finance, IM, and Logistics procedures.

·        Immediately report any safety concerns to the Site Supervisor.

·        Produce accurate maps and reports that reflect the team’s daily activities.

·        Oversee and manage team leave schedules and address other HR-related matters.

·        Perform any additional tasks assigned by the Site Supervisor

The Deputy Team Leader is part of a team conducting NTS/EORE, CMRS/CMRC tasks.   The Deputy Team Leader oversees the team when the Team Leader is not present. In support of the Team Leader, he/she is responsible for the team management, deployment of team members in the field, team equipment and safety.

 

General Responsibilities:

  • The Deputy Team Leader will deploy as a Searcher first and foremost.
  • The Deputy Team Leader will take on the leadership role in the absence of a Team Leader or otherwise instructed.
  • Work within the framework of NPA core values
  • Act as an ambassador for NPA, through professionalism and conduct
  • Adhere to all NPA policies, regulations and procedures

The BAC Team Leader is part of a team conducting risk education, survey and/or clearance of Explosive Remnants of War. The Team Leader is in charge of the team and responsible for the team management, deployment of team members in the field, team equipment and safety. The Site Supervisor needs to be capable of living/working in tent and camp setting five nights in duration and manage the team.

 

General Responsibilities:

·       Work within the framework of NPA core values

·       Act as an ambassador for NPA, through professionalism and conduct

·       Adhere to all NPA policies, regulations and procedures

·       Maintain and care for all equipment issued by NPA and for any loss or damage, you will be liable for repair or replacement
